Footer watermark for a PDF

A footer watermark places a line of ownership or contact information in the bottom margin of every page: company name, website, email address or a short status note. It is the least intrusive watermark style and the standard way to mark invoices, quotations and contracts.

Alignment and placement

Left alignment suits contact-detail blocks and pairs well with documents that already have a left-aligned header. Centred is the most neutral and works on nearly everything. Right alignment mirrors a right-hand logo. The footer is drawn inside the bottom margin, so it will not collide with your body text.

Long footers shrink automatically to fit the page width rather than running off the edge, and they scale sensibly across A4, Letter and A3.

Frequently asked questions

Will the footer overlap my existing page numbers?

No. The footer is drawn in the bottom margin area, and we do not add or replace page numbers. If your document already has its own page numbers in the footer, the watermark line appears above them rather than on top.

Can I add a footer to only some pages?

Yes. Under More options you can restrict the watermark to a page range, or to the first page, the last page, odd pages or even pages. This is useful when a cover page should stay clean.

Can I use the footer to mark a document as a draft?

Yes, and it is a good fit. Put “DRAFT” or “For internal review only” in the text field alongside your company name. A footer draft mark is professional enough to send outside the organisation while still making the status clear.
