Watermark a PDF

Upload a PDF, choose one of five watermark styles and download the marked copy. The job takes about a minute, needs no account and nothing to install, and the file you upload is deleted from our servers automatically within the hour. Text, logo, confidential, draft and footer marks are all covered, and the free tier accepts files up to 100 MB and 300 pages.

Free tier: up to 100 MB and 300 pages. Files are deleted automatically within 120 minutes.

How it works

  1. Upload the PDF

Drop the file in or choose it from your device. Nothing is installed and no account is created.

  2. Pick a style

Diagonal for a status mark, Behind the text for branding, Footer for a line at the bottom, Image for a logo, Tiled for a pattern.

  3. Set the wording and opacity

Type the text, choose a colour, and set how strongly it shows. About 30% is right for most documents.

  4. Choose the pages

Mark every page, or only the pages you select.

  5. Download

Click Add watermark and keep the marked copy. The upload is deleted automatically within the hour.

What happens to your file

Your PDF is uploaded so it can be processed, written to a private directory, and read back only by the watermarking job. It is never used for anything else, never shared, and never kept for analysis.

A cleanup process sweeps the storage directory every few minutes and deletes everything older than the retention window, so an abandoned upload does not sit on a disk waiting to be noticed. Nothing is retained once you have the result.

  • No account, no email address, no profile
  • No document content in logs or analytics
  • Cookie-free, first-party page measurement only
  • Automatic deletion, not manual housekeeping

Frequently asked questions

Is this PDF watermark tool really free?

Yes. Every watermark style, every colour, opacity and page-range control is available without paying or creating an account. The free tier handles six files a day, up to 100 MB and 300 pages each, which is more than most free tools allow before they throttle you by the hour.

Is my PDF private when I upload it?

The file is uploaded to be processed, stored in a private directory and deleted automatically within an hour, whatever happens to it afterwards. It is never shared or used for anything except the watermarking job, and no document content appears in logs or analytics.

Does watermarking reduce the quality of the PDF?

No. The text and images already in the document are left untouched; the watermark is drawn on top of, or behind, them as new page content. Fonts used by the watermark are embedded and subsetted, so the file stays small and the original pages stay exactly as sharp as they were.

Can I use it on a phone or tablet?

Yes. The tool runs in any modern browser, so it works the same way on a phone, a tablet and a laptop: choose the file, adjust the settings and download the result. There is nothing to install on any platform.

What is the largest PDF I can watermark?

Files up to 100 MB and 300 pages are accepted on the free tier, which covers reports, catalogues, tender packs and drawing sets. If a document is larger than that, splitting it into parts and marking each part with the same settings gives the same result.
