Adobe Acrobat watermark vs our free browser tool

Adobe's watermark feature lives in the paid desktop version of Acrobat Pro, not in the free online tools, and free online use is capped at a single transaction. Our browser tool watermarks a PDF with no account, nothing to install and no per-file fee, and it deletes your upload after one hour. Adobe still wins on editing breadth and brand.

How we compared

We compared Adobe Acrobat with our own browser tool on six criteria, using Adobe's own help pages where we could. Every figure below is sourced under the table, and we say plainly where Adobe is the better choice.

  • Friction before value: what you must do before you can watermark anything.
  • Free-tier limits: what the free tier allows per transaction or per day.
  • Watermark capabilities: text, image, placement and page selection.
  • Privacy and retention: where your file goes and when it is deleted.
  • Price: what the paid plan costs, and whether the figure is verified.
  • Who it suits: the person each option is genuinely best for.

Where Adobe does not publish a number, we say so rather than guessing.

Where Adobe Acrobat is the better choice

We are a watermarking tool and nothing more. Adobe is an entire document platform, and for plenty of people that is exactly the right answer.

  • Editing breadth: Acrobat Pro edits text and images, redacts, converts and reorganises pages; we only add a watermark.
  • Offline desktop work: the Acrobat app runs without uploading your file anywhere.
  • Brand and procurement: Adobe is a name large organisations already trust and can buy through formal processes.
  • Compliance material: Adobe publishes detailed security and compliance documentation we cannot match.

What we do, and what we do not

We watermark PDFs in the browser. You need no account to try it, files are limited to 100 MB and 300 pages, the free tier allows 6 watermark jobs a day, and your upload is deleted automatically after one hour.

We do not edit text, convert files, sign documents or remove passwords. If you need any of that, use a full PDF suite. We also cannot match Adobe on certifications; we are simply a focused, free watermarking tool.

Frequently asked questions

Can I add a watermark with the free online Adobe tools?

No. Adobe's list of free online services covers converting, compressing, editing, merging, splitting and more, but it does not include a watermark tool. Watermarking is a desktop Acrobat Pro feature, and Pro is a paid subscription.

How much does Adobe Acrobat cost to watermark a PDF?

Adobe did not publish an exact price we could confirm on its own page. The figures we found come from third-party trackers rather than Adobe: roughly $14.99 a month for Standard and $19.99 a month for Pro on an annual plan billed monthly. Treat those as unverified and check adobe.com before relying on them.

Is Acrobat's desktop watermarking better than a browser tool?

For a full PDF editing suite, yes: Acrobat Pro does far more than watermarking and it works offline. For watermarking alone, our browser tool needs no install, no account and no subscription, and it is free.
